Practical Agile 2

Thanks to all those that attended the second session at NCFE’s offices in Newcastle yesterday. It was great to see returning faces and meet some new fellow agile practitioners.

We started off with Sage’s Gary Ging giving a brief spotlight on Sage’s history, team structure and some of the challenges they have overcome or are working on, followed by a vote on which topics of discussion to tackle.

The two topics selected were closely related – how to foster a “we’re all in this together” spirit and approach to delivering on commitments, and also how to prevent “waterfall in a sprint” syndrome where the traditional requirements -> development -> test phases are simply condensed into a 2 or 4 week cycle.

There were some really productive discussions taking place and certainly a few notes were being scribbled with ideas that people are going to take back to their respective teams to try out which is what the sessions are all about!

We’ll be writing up the discussions and posting them on here over the next couple of days so watch this space… and meanwhile the next session is set for 7th June so save the date…
